Welcome to Pittsburgh! It's Labor Day Weekend โ make it a trip. Here are our favorite spots in the North Hills and beyond.
We are based in the North Hills (zip codes 15101 & 15237). All of the "stay close" options below are within a 10โ15 minute drive of the main hotels. The "city option" section covers Downtown Pittsburgh, about 20 minutes south.
๐ณ Breakfast & Brunch
Fresh, healthy options. Great for a sit-down breakfast before the day. Located at McCandless Crossing.
A Pittsburgh staple, featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Huge, classic, hearty breakfast โ no frills.
A classic locally-owned diner on Rt. 19 (Perry Hwy). Retro booths, enormous portions, great breakfast combos. Open 7 AMโ3 PM daily. Cash-and-carry energy, genuinely great food.
๐ Casual Lunch & Dinner
A total local institution. Huge menu, great bar food, family-friendly. Loud, fun, and reliable.
Famous for massive custom burgers and "hard" (alcoholic) milkshakes. Great for groups.
๐ท Upscale / Nice Dinner
Pittsburgh's premier fine dining restaurant, perched on Mt. Washington directly beside the Duquesne Incline. Floor-to-ceiling windows with sweeping views of all three rivers and the skyline. AAA Four Diamond, Chef Jessica Bauer's contemporary American cuisine, named among Pittsburgh's best for 2026. Make a reservation โ it books out. The move: ride the Incline up, have dinner here.
Minutes from Allison Park. Beautiful Italian-style winery with outdoor lawn, live music on weekends, and excellent pizza & pasta. A more relaxed option than Altius but genuinely lovely โ especially on a warm September evening. Highly recommended for a low-key afternoon or early dinner.
๐ณ North Park (The Crown Jewel)
Rent kayaks or pedal boats on the lake. A perfect Sunday morning activity.
Casual restaurant inside the historic boathouse with lake views. Great breakfast or lunch spot.
A paved 5-mile loop around the lake โ perfect for walking off a heavy meal.
๐๏ธ Shopping & Entertainment

Nordstrom Rack, Saks Off 5th, and a casual food hall. Great for a Sunday afternoon.
Fully indoor mall with Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Apple Store, LEGO Store, and Cheesecake Factory.
๐๏ธ Downtown Pittsburgh (15โ20 min south)
Ride the historic wooden cable car up Mt. Washington for the iconic view of the city skyline. An absolute must.
An open-air market district with street food, Steelers gear, and coffee shops. Most vibrant on weekend mornings โ if you're arriving Friday, it's a great first stop. Also worth a Sunday visit before heading home. Don't miss Primanti Bros for the famous fries-in-the-sandwich.
Walk to where the three rivers meet. Iconic fountain and great photo opportunity.
World-class museum dedicated to Pittsburgh's most famous son. Unique and genuinely excellent.
Pittsburgh and Western PA history. Great for all ages and unexpectedly engaging.
