Pittsburgh Guide

Welcome to Pittsburgh! It's Labor Day Weekend โ€” make it a trip. Here are our favorite spots in the North Hills and beyond.

We are based in the North Hills (zip codes 15101 & 15237). All of the "stay close" options below are within a 10โ€“15 minute drive of the main hotels. The "city option" section covers Downtown Pittsburgh, about 20 minutes south.

๐Ÿณ Breakfast & Brunch

First Watch (McCandless)

Fresh, healthy options. Great for a sit-down breakfast before the day. Located at McCandless Crossing.

Kelly O's Diner (Wexford)

A Pittsburgh staple, featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Huge, classic, hearty breakfast โ€” no frills.

Totin's Diner (Wexford)

A classic locally-owned diner on Rt. 19 (Perry Hwy). Retro booths, enormous portions, great breakfast combos. Open 7 AMโ€“3 PM daily. Cash-and-carry energy, genuinely great food.

๐Ÿ” Casual Lunch & Dinner

North Park Lounge (McCandless)

A total local institution. Huge menu, great bar food, family-friendly. Loud, fun, and reliable.

Burgatory (McCandless Crossing)

Famous for massive custom burgers and "hard" (alcoholic) milkshakes. Great for groups.

๐Ÿท Upscale / Nice Dinner

Altius (Mt. Washington)

Pittsburgh's premier fine dining restaurant, perched on Mt. Washington directly beside the Duquesne Incline. Floor-to-ceiling windows with sweeping views of all three rivers and the skyline. AAA Four Diamond, Chef Jessica Bauer's contemporary American cuisine, named among Pittsburgh's best for 2026. Make a reservation โ€” it books out. The move: ride the Incline up, have dinner here.

Narcisi Winery (Gibsonia)

Minutes from Allison Park. Beautiful Italian-style winery with outdoor lawn, live music on weekends, and excellent pizza & pasta. A more relaxed option than Altius but genuinely lovely โ€” especially on a warm September evening. Highly recommended for a low-key afternoon or early dinner.

๐ŸŒณ North Park (The Crown Jewel)

The Boathouse

Rent kayaks or pedal boats on the lake. A perfect Sunday morning activity.

OTB Bicycle Cafรฉ

Casual restaurant inside the historic boathouse with lake views. Great breakfast or lunch spot.

Walking & Hiking

A paved 5-mile loop around the lake โ€” perfect for walking off a heavy meal.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Shopping & Entertainment

McCandless Crossing

Outdoor walkable plaza: Cinemark movie theater, Trader Joe's, bookstores, and several restaurants.

The Block Northway

Nordstrom Rack, Saks Off 5th, and a casual food hall. Great for a Sunday afternoon.

Ross Park Mall

Fully indoor mall with Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Apple Store, LEGO Store, and Cheesecake Factory.

๐Ÿ™๏ธ Downtown Pittsburgh (15โ€“20 min south)

Duquesne Incline

Ride the historic wooden cable car up Mt. Washington for the iconic view of the city skyline. An absolute must.

The Strip District

An open-air market district with street food, Steelers gear, and coffee shops. Most vibrant on weekend mornings โ€” if you're arriving Friday, it's a great first stop. Also worth a Sunday visit before heading home. Don't miss Primanti Bros for the famous fries-in-the-sandwich.

Point State Park

Walk to where the three rivers meet. Iconic fountain and great photo opportunity.

Andy Warhol Museum

World-class museum dedicated to Pittsburgh's most famous son. Unique and genuinely excellent.

Heinz History Center

Pittsburgh and Western PA history. Great for all ages and unexpectedly engaging.

๐ŸŽฎ For Kids & Teens

Urban Air Adventure Park (Cranberry)

10โ€“15 min north. More than trampolines โ€” "Sky Rider" coaster, ropes course, climbing walls, bumper cars. Drop the teenagers here for 2 hours.

North Park "Go Ape" Course

Treetop ropes course and zipline in North Park. Requires reservation and waivers.

Dave & Buster's (The Block Northway)

Huge arcade right next to the shopping area. Easy for teens while parents shop.

Zone 28 (Harmarville)

~15 min from Allison Park. Massive complex with bowling, arcade, laser tag, and escape rooms.

Fun Fore All (Cranberry)

Best spot for go-karts and outdoor mini-golf when weather cooperates. Also has duckpin bowling and a big arcade inside.

Kniess's Mini Golf (Ross Township)

A local historic landmark on Babcock Blvd. Two 18-hole courses, charming and very well-maintained.
